Little Women by: Lousia May Alcott

For one of my books I read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Little Women is about four sisters in the 1800s. The oldest sister is Meg. Meg is very sophisticated and she is the prettiest of the four. Jo the second oldest sister. I find myself to be very much like Jo, we have the same interest and hot temper that sometimes gets us in trouble. The third oldest is Beth, she is like the angel child, at first I thought Beth was just a little to perfect and nobody could ever be like her. I learned to like her and she does have some imperfections. The youngest is little Amy. She thinks very highly of herself and keeps her nose in the air. She likes to pester her sisters because she thinks she always left out. The book is about how they get along with each other and how they survive.

Having a sister definitely helps me connect with the story more than an only child can connect with it. Even having a little brother helps me because I can connect with having an older sibling and having a younger sibling. I like how Alcott makes the sisters have special relationships with some sisters and not others, because that's how it really is.  I also love how Alcott shows how the love for each sister is a never ending love because that's is true for every sibling from the 1800s to modern day life. When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be terribly boring and everybody in the story were going to be perfect angels; but the truth is that everybody had some flaws, even the parents. When usually parents never have any flaws and they are just full of advice. (Which isn't always true in real life.)

I am very glad  to have read this book because I got to expand my reading choices, as Miss Bal wanted me too. But my stubborn self didn't want to because I was afraid of being disappointed. I was definitely not disappointed though and I loved reading the book. I liked to learn all about the life back in the 1800s and I loved that Alcott made the characters so much similar to how people really are in life. Now I know why people call it a classic and a must-read. It is definitely on my list of favorites and for anyone who asks me about  it, I will tell you the same.
