The Lightning Thief

     I have read The Lightning Thief  this summer and I absolutely loved it!!! At the beginning Percy is an average teenager whose dad died when he was a baby, he has dyslexia, and his step-dad,Gabe (a.k.a. Smelly Gabe), is the rudest person in the world. He plays poker all day and bosses Percy's sweet mom around. At the boarding school Mr. Brunner teaches  about Greek gods and goddesses. His assistant, Mrs. Dodds, who always prefers to Nancy Bobbofit instead of Percy. But one day, Mrs. Dodds was alone with Percy on a field trip to a museum and she turned into a furie and tried to kill him because Percy Jackson was a half-blood.

     Mr. Brunner just so happened to be strolling in his wheel chair to go over there and he tossed a pen over to Percy and he uncapped it and it became a sword later to be called Riptide. Percy thrashed it at Mrs.Dodds and she disintegrated. The next day, Mrs.Dodds was replaced by Ms. Kerr. Percy asked everybody what happened to Mrs. Dodds but they all asked who that was, but when he asked Grover( his best and only friend) he got nervous and tried to play it off like all the other kids who really didn't know anything about Mrs. Dodds.

     When he got out of boarding school for the summer, his mom told him that they were going to a beach that they used to go to all the time and that they hadn't been to in a while. when they got there, it started to rain really hard and became a hurricane. So they went inside and they heard a knock on the door. When they opened it, they found Grover standing there. I was really surprised that Grover was standing in a hurricane and had apparently been "stalking" Percy on his summer vacation. So Sally Jackson told everybody to get in the car and they drove to camp half-blood, when all of the sudden they heard a BOOM BOOM BOOM and saw that a minotaur was chasing them. At this point I was freaking out in my head and started to speed read.

     I am not going to tell you what happened because then I would be spoiling the book for you, but Percy and Grover make it to the camp where they make some friends, enemies, and backbiters. Percy trains to go on a quest and you'll have to read the book to find out if he returns to camp or dies because I have to read the rest of the series, because the book makes you beg for more.
